“You have the power today to accomplish anything, may your day be filled with Sunshine.” This quote from an unknown author may indeed be the personal slogan of SunVault Energy’s President and CEO John Crawford. A veteran of the “Electricity and Power storage” business, John Crawford was the Director in charge of Energizer’s Strategic Ventures section and with that company for 22 years before leaving to head up SunVault’s operations. Although this article is not about John or his reasons for making such a dramatic shift, where the real dramatic shift comes in, is the company to which Mr. Crawford moved to and why. \
SunVault Energy Inc. OTC-BB – SVLT – could be that dramatic shift in power, not as in position of power but more simply – everything and anything to do with what could potentially happen to traditional, conventional power supply, storage and delivery to all. From homeowners to businesses, from cell phones to cameras, from homes to apartment buildings to feeding the power grid system, all of these powered situations and devices may have a new friend.
SunVault has created what they say is the building block for the next steps in generation and storage of electricity.
A chip that charges through ambient light and then stores that electric energy collected for up to 96 hours in a cell for use as required. Or an electrical supply building block or puzzle piece, if you like, for larger formed solutions to electricity requirements globally.
With this development in its technology and its global potential, MIT recently conducted a Roadmap Evaluation Review of SunVault’s technology. The evaluation was completed by Nicola Ferralis PhD and Jeffrey C. Grossman PhD at the department of Materials Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.
Below is overview of the report; Electrical Energy generation through solar or more properly named photovoltaics (PV) is not new and has some applications that have already proved to be very successful. The difficulty is the cost and engineering complexity surrounding the storage of the generated electrical power from standard PV installations. The SunVault approach, as identified by MIT, is the seamless integration of power generation and storage down to the molecular level, into a standardized self contained system.
In the MIT report it is stated that SunVault has two of the most important core technologies that must be accomplished before a company can achieve the scaled integration goal of total integration of energy generation and storage
The first generation is a Novel Light capture systems that is utilized to provide an optimized match of light absorption by the PV material, resulting in an increase of energy production and further optimization of the power generation and storage.
Second is the development of 3D photovoltaics (3D-PV). 3 – Dimensional PV allows for an increase of power production of up to 30 times per footprint and much lower electronics cost as well as an overall simplification of the PV system.
The MIT report identifies five technological generations planned by SunVault that serve the dual purpose of the development of key components, and consolidation of the IP for the ultimate envisioned technologies.
The game changing technology at the core of SunVault Energy’s generation plans achieve the molecular integration between solar energy generation and storage.
In a recent conversation had with Dr. Mark Schubert PhD, and Chief Technology Officer of SunVault Energy, it appears the game changing aspects challenge of SunVault’s technology may have moved up the schedule to where the monetization of the Company’s plans for the various generation stages may be in the palm of your hand. Dr. Mark Schubert, prior to joining SunVault Energy, was a Chief Scientist at the Energizer Battery Company for nearly 17 years.
According to Dr. Schubert the Company has had some recent test trial success in doing something fairly simple that impacts all of us significantly. The prototype solar chip that uses ambient light combined with the proprietary bio-cell energy storage appears to be able to provide continual power deliverable to smart phones. A Smart Phone that never requires a charge, that doesn’t run out of power and that just simply runs all the time. Ok you have our attention!
While John Crawford’s days are filled with sunshine, Dr. Mark Schubert has initiated the key to the significant investment in time and human resources that are required for the full rollout of the multi Generation roadmap of this company.
