PRESS RELEASE: Lake Orion, Michigan (September 4, 2013) – Award-winning Michigan author Ronald L. Herron, who won a Readers Favorite Gold Medal in 2012 for his dramatic debut young adult adventure novel “Reichold Street,” is at it again. On September 1, 2013 his short-story collection “Zebulon” was awarded the 2013 Readers Favorite Silver Medal in the young adult fantasy genre.
Reviewer Tamara L. of Readers Favorite said Herron “is a highly imaginative author…with a great sense of wit and style, and the ability to weave a story together with a bit of havoc and heart…” She also added “…this is an assortment of tales with all the right elements necessary to make a short-story click. The pages flow easily and we meet some interesting characters and the dilemmas they face.”
Herron graduated from Monteith College, the former honors program at Wayne State University in Detroit, and earned an MBA from Michigan State. He worked for several of the world’s largest advertising agencies and had a long career in public relations and marketing with General Motors. After his early retirement, he returned to his first love…writing…producing three books in the last two years.
“Few of my friends even knew I wrote fiction,” said Herron. “I never had the time to properly devote to it before, although I’ve been writing and submitting stories since I was seventeen. I’m delighted to finally have my stories so well received.” The official award presentation by Readers Favorite CEO Debra Gaynor will be November 23, 2013, during the 30th Annual International Book Fair in Miami.
The independently-published “Zebulon” is available in paperback or as a digital e-Book from both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble online.
Readers can visit the author’s web site “Broken Glass” and journalists / bloggers can find more information on his media page. Herron also writes an interesting blog about writing and indie-publishing, called “Painting With Light.”
