BOSTON (January 29, 2014) – Ten people will be eating better – and hopefully thinking smarter – as a result of “winning” Legal Sea Foods’ Fish is Brain Food contest.

The famed Boston-based restaurant, asked the public to send in photos via Twitter, Facebook or Instragram of people or situations that clearly demonstrated less than intelligent behavior, brainless acts, momentary lapses in judgment, or plain stupid ideas.

A total of 10 people each won a Legal Sea Foods gift card valued at $250.  The winning entries included such questionable acts as a man sitting in a wooden chair over a fire; a painted parking sign that reads “Costumer;” and another painted street sign indicating the intended flow of traffic by the word “Olny.”

The promotion was part of Legal’s recent ad campaign that used homemade videos of people’s brainless acts, including a young man licking a frozen metal pole.  The advertising’s message played up the old adage that “fish is brain food,” and that more of us could use a steady diet of seafood. The ads conclude with the friendly reminder of “Fish is brain food.  We have fish.”

This new promotion plays off the current ads, as it seeks to find further humorous examples of outrageous behavior where the subjects could have clearly benefited from eating more fish.

The company said it would consider incorporating the inept acts that were submitted for the contest into the ongoing “Fish is Brain Food” campaign.
