Washington DC. Indian Overseas Congress, has strongly supported the demand of the inclusion of Jat Sikhs, in Punjab and India, including Jat Sikh NRI’s, residing in United States and Canada, to be included in the Central government jobs and rights, under the Other Backwards Classes quota, in India. Jat Sikhs who constitute nearly 25 % of Punjab’s 3.7 crore population are considered the landed affluent and socially dominant castes in the State.
All India Jat Maha Sabha, president Capt. Amarinder Singh, has written to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan SIngh, to protest the exclusion of Sikhs and Muslim Jats from the benefits of reservation in several States of India, requesting the Cabinet decision should be fair in all States, in respect to inclusions in OBC. PPCC President Partap Bajwa, who met the AICC , Leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, on the matter has been invited to United States and Canada, to inaugurate ” Jat SIkhs of North America”, during Vaisakhi Celebrations, in Vancouver and Toronto, in April 2014.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, protested the Cabinet decision of exclusion as discrimination against Jat Sikhs of Punjab, asking for immediate inclusion of 3.7 crore Jat Sikhs of Punjab in the OBC policy. Indian Overseas Congress President Vikram Bajwa, has written to UPA Chairman Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, to include 1.7 Million NRI Jat Sikhs, residing in USA, Canada, U,K., Australia and other parts of the world, so their Children can obtain Admissions, into Medical, Engineering and other Professional Universities in India, under the OBC Quota, where there exculsion, leaves them to pay hefty donations in dollars, to India Universities. NRI Jat Singh America, president Gurdan Singh, NRI Jat Sikh Chairman of England, Kanwar Partap Singh, have on their agenda to meet President of India Pranab Mukherjee, during Parvasi Divas, on January 11, 2014 and present him a “Charter of NRI Demands”, which includes the, inclusion. Indo-Canadian Jats, Secretary Manpreet Dhillon, will meet Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, on Punjab Parvasi Divas, to support the Punjab Government policy on Jats, requesting the Deputy Chief Minister, to include them in the Punjab State, by obtaining approval in the Punjab State Assembly, which will be supported by SAD, BJP and Punjab Congress.
