SOMOSTV’s movie channel presents out of competition category

MIAMI, Florida, -February 25th, 2014- ViendoMovies, the 24 hour channel of films originally produced in Spanish, with no commercial breaks, produced and distributed by SOMOSTV, is a proud sponsor of the Miami Film Festival’s Cinema 360°. This category features narratives from both masters and up-and-coming filmmakers, including an international selection of dramas, comedies, suspense thrillers, neo westerns, and innovative docudramas. ViendoMovies has been a sponsor of the Miami Film Festival for over 7 years and has been honored to sponsor the Cinema 360° category for 2 years.

The movies presented in the Cinema 360° are “15 Years + 1 Day” (Spain), “The Amazing Catfish” (Mexico), “Cannibal” (Spain/Romania), “Cristo Rey” (Dominican Republic), “Family United” (Spain), “Heli” (Mexico), “Illiterate” (Chile), “La Jaula de Oro” (Mexico), among others. From this selection, ViendoMovies has already secured agreements with two; “The Amazing CatFish” by Claudia Sainte-Luce (Mexico) about Martha, an ailing single mother of four, brings misfit Claudia into her home for a temporary stay, but as Martha’s health deteriorates, her children come to rely on Claudia’s calming presence and “15 Years + 1 Day”, by Gracia Querejeta (Spain), tackles the complex relationships of a mother/unemployed actress (Maribel Verdú), her rebellious teenage son, and a strict grandfather (Tito Valverde), as well as homophobia in a macho trio of South American youth. “15 Years + 1 Day” received a Goya Award nominee for Best Picture.

ViendoMovies in its mission to bring the best of Spanish language film to its audience, supports events and festivals in the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe by covering and sponsoring events such as the Miami Film Festival (MFF). During March, the channel will air exclusive interviews with some of the filmmakers whose work made up this year’s Out of Competition Category, as well as highlights of the festival’s red carpets.
