“Christian Service 4LIFE”– The World’s Largest Field Trip — Comes to Los Angeles

PRESS RELEASE: LOS ANGELES, CA (October 8, 2013)— On October 9, 2013 at the StubHub Center, LIFEsocal will host “Christian Service 4LIFE,” a half-day assembly for Los Angeles junior high school and high school students designed to inspire them to “do something positive for LIFE.”  The event, which is presented in concert with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’s Office of Life, Justice, and Peace, is a cornerstone of “Respect Life Week.”

LIFEsocal Executive Director Carol Golbranson commented, “Christian Service 4LIFE” is an opportunity for young people from throughout Los Angeles to leave behind the distractions of life and school and sports for a few hours to re-engage with their Christian obligation serve all human LIFE: the old, young, preborn, pregnant, disabled, disadvantaged, impoverished, homeless, and the suffering.  Our hope is that these students leave the event motivated to take action at their schools and in their communities to stand up for LIFE from conception to natural death.”

More than 6,000 students from 79 schools as far away as Santa Barbara and Santa Fe Springs will attend the sold-out event.  LIFEsocal, with the assistance of its generous supporters, has provided over $38,000 in scholarships and busses to students and schools so they may attend Christian Service 4LIFE.

Students will hear from Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez, who will be joined by dozens of priests in Benediction; “America’s Next Top Model” contestant, Brittany Sharaun, who founded the Skid Row homeless ministry “Burgers and Bibles”; Maria Cahill, Miss Delaware 2011 and an outspoken advocate for the adoption of a faith-based approach to coping with adversity; and Mexican model, singer, and actor Eduardo Verastegui who founded Manto De Guadalupe, a pro-life clinic in Los Angeles.  Students will also participate in games and group exercises, and have the opportunity to interact with a variety of ministries and charities.

Golbranson stated, “I am deeply grateful to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for its partnership in hosting this Respect Life Week event. We could not pull it off without their help and support. Also, Christian Service 4LIFE could never have happened without the many speakers, ministries, groups, and the small army of volunteers who gave so freely and generously of their time.  This amazing event is another successful step on the road to changing the culture.”

LIFEsocal strives to bring a new and vibrant awareness to being pro-LIFE by rallying regular people and inspiring them to do something positive for LIFE.  The organization’s approach is pro-LIFE, positive and non-political.
