MIAMI, Florida, – November 18th, 2013 – ViendoMovies celebrates the Mexican Revolution on November 20th with special programming during prime time with high-profile Mexican movies, starting with “Hecho en China” (Made in China), followed by “Revolucion” (Revolution), and lastly “Chicogrande”. The channel will dress the screen with a themed logo, honoring one of the most important anniversaries for Mexico.
For ViendoMovies this date is especially important, given that it is a celebration involving the biggest segment of the US Hispanic Market and one of the leading countries in the Spanish speaking Americas. Celebrated on November 20th, it is one of the two most important anniversaries for Mexico- the other being the Mexican Independence, celebrated in September. The leading figures of the most important sociopolitical event in Mexico were Francisco “Pancho” Villa, representing the north, and Emiliano Zapata, representing the south of Mexico. Mexican culture has had a significant influence in the United States, among many aspects of life; from food to many artistic expressions.
Starting at 7:20PM on Wednesday the audience can enjoy the comedy “Hecho en China” (Made in China), by Mexican director Gabriel Guzman, a tale about a Tijuana restaurant owner, played by the brilliant Mexican actor Odiseo Bichir), who is faced with the inevitability of aging as he reaches a milestone birthday and is invited to his long-lost loves wedding. Forced to face the facts that he is in a failing business with shattered dreams, he embarks on a cross country adventure to attend the wedding with his new and young delivery driver, portrayed by Victor Hernandez.
The channel will continue its celebration at 9pm with the two-time award winning “Best Film” by AFCAE Award and the Golden Sun Award, “Revolucion” (Revolution). This film was completed by 10 prominent directors, including Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal, to collaborate for the centennial of the Mexican Revolution with a 10 min short film each, that in some way dealt with Mexico and analyzes, through the eyes of the directors, what the revolution is today and what it means to the young minds of Mexico.
Lastly to close the celebration “Chicogrande” by Felipe Cazals, a film about the U.S. invasion of Mexico in 1916 as told from a Mexican viewpoint, airs at 11PM.
